Reptile Sands & Substrates

Reptiles, like fish, are cold blooded.  These animals therefore are dependent on their surroundings to help regulate body temperature.  Substrates, besides mimicking natural environments, provide a warm coating over cool terrarium glass as well as burrowing material when the heat gets too much.  Speak to your Maxi Zoo pet advisor regarding your favourite reptile, and choose from our:

• Terrarium moss to help elevate humidity

• Sands in differing colours for desert animals

• Terrarium bark to help regulate humidity, and to provide great burrowing

• Plus more!!!

Call into your local store today to discuss your reptile’s personal needs with our Maxi Zoo Pet Experts

TOP TIPS

TIP #1

Peat moss is an excellent substrate for frogs, toads and salamanders.

TIP #2

Try fine-grain sand or pea gravel for lizards, snakes, turtles and tortoises substrate. Pea gravel is a very good generator of heat.

TIP #3

Ensure you always use a substrate specifically designed for your pet. Beach sand or soil from outside can be dangerous for your reptile.
