Small Animal Cages & Hutches

With a few exceptions, almost all small animals will be housed in a cage or hutch rather than allowed to roam the house freely.  It is vital therefore that you provide the best possible living arrangement for your rodent.  Maxi Zoo cares deeply for our pets, and does not sell any cage deemed too small for our small animal needs.  Ensure that you speak to your local Maxi Zoo Pet advisor regarding your species and number of pets, and we will assist in choosing the best option from our:

• Small and colourful plastic cages, perfect for children who own one or a few small pets

• Larger wire cages with sturdy plastic bottoms, for larger animals or multiple pets

• Wooded hutches, gardens and runs for outdoor housing needs

• Plus more!!!

TIP #1

The bigger the hutch or cage the better! At the very least, a rabbit should have enough room to sit up on their back legs and spread out a bit.

TIP #2

Plastic cage bottoms are much healthier for your rodent’s feet (and stress levels) than a wire bottom

TIP #3

To prevent bullying or even death, you should have a different cage for each species of small animal you keep. Also pay attention to the social needs of each species, as some live best alone, some with only the same sex of that species, while others are less discriminatory.
