These AquaEL sponge cartridges consist of carefully selected, phenol-free sponges. They provide efficient mechanical filtration of the water by capturing impurities and suspended solids that are visible to the naked eye.. At the same time, they form a substrate to grow nitrifying bacteria for biological filtration.
For optimal performance, the cartridges should be replaced regularly. Maintenance should only be carried out in the "old" water that was drained out of the tank when the water was changed.
